Full job description

What we’re building We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, still likes to get hands on, and is always willing to learn. We pride ourselves on transparency and operate in a lean, high-trust environment that encourages everyone to take ownership over their domain.

You will be a full-time member of our Test team and will work from our manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. Given that we’re a startup, you will be working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment that requires adaptability. That said, here are some responsibilities and qualifications we expect to stay relatively constant for this role.

What You'll Do

  • Planning and designing prototype tests and procedures

  • Fabricating and assembling fixtures, test stands, and wire harnesses

  • Diagnosing, reporting, and repairing technical issues on prototype boats

  • Working alongside test engineers to build and instrument test setups

  • Overseeing and maintaining test facilities, assets, and prototypes to meet test schedules

  • Safely conduct bench tests in the lab and on-vehicle tests in the field to collect data

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a test/product development manufacturing environment

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and a proactive mindset

  • Read and follow engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and work instructions

  • Experience with test instrumentation (accelerometers, strain gauges, load cells, transducers, microphones, voltage sensors, thermocouples, RTDs)

  • Experience with data acquisition systems (National Instruments or Dewesoft)

  • Experience using mechanical power tools and machining tools

  • Organized and quality oriented with attention to detail

  • Proficient computer skills, able to run test procedures, gather data, and provide results

  • Able to work well on a team with a positive attitude

  • Able to stand 6-10 hours per day and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Up to 25% travel

  • Need to be able to trailer a boat and eligible to drive for work

  • This is an active role that will require consistent physical activity as well as the ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs

  • Ability to go complete activities on the water

  • Valid Drivers’ license

Bonus Qualifications

  • Knowledge using TIG and MIG welding for steel and aluminum

  • Exposure to rapid prototyping and 3D printing

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced product development setting

  • Prior experience executing environmental testing

  • Comfortable working 50 hours a week

  • Enthusiasm for boating, electric vehicles, and clean energy

  • Prior experience with HV battery service or development testing
