Build and Repair Parts That Keep Industry Moving
Louis Allis is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. If you enjoy hands-on machining, working from prints and samples, and producing precision parts rather than running the same production job all day, we'd like to talk with you.
You'll work in a clean, team-oriented shop machining and repairing components used in industrial electric motors and mechanical assemblies.
Electric motor experience is a plus, but [not required-we can teach the motor-specific work to an experienced machinist].
What You'll Do

Set up and operate manual lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, drill presses, and other machine tools

Manufacture and repair precision parts from drawings, blueprints, and samples

Hold close tolerances and verify your work using appropriate measuring equipment

Turn and undercut electric motor commutators

Use saws, grinders, sanders, files, and other shop equipment as needed

Inspect your work and maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail

Perform basic machine lubrication and maintenance

Work alongside other experienced machinists and members of our motor repair team

Maintain a safe, organized work area
What We're Looking For

2+ years of machining/shop experience
-
Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools
-
Ability to read and machine parts from drawings and blueprints
-
Ability to work accurately to close tolerances
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
-
Electric motor repair or motor-shop experience is a plus
-
Trade school training is a plus
-
Ability to safely handle and secure heavy components
-
