SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible to conduct integrity test of hose by using pressurized water. Operator will also expel mandrel from hose.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements for assembly, packaging, processing, and inspection of final product.

  2. Assure all necessary documents required are properly prepared and completed.

  3. Ensure quality by:

a. Performing quality inspections

b. pressure checking hose to specification requirements

c. identifying and eliminating known defects

d. assures the final product meets customer requirements

e. document good and non-conforming product

f. provides required samples to the QA department

g. detects and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor

  1. Operator will prioritize job duties based on information obtained from the Work Leader/Value Stream Team Leader.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

  • Maintain production schedules.

  • Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

  • Other duties may be assigned later.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Education required/ preferred:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

Production work preferred but not required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

  • Sound decision making skills

  • Good math, reading, writing skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

  • Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product

  • Strong trouble shooting skills

Skills/Competencies:

  1. Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package

  2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Other Skills:

Ability to work well in a team environment

Assessment:

Employee must pass Pre-employment screening

  • Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader

  • Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment

  • Standing is required for extended periods of time. Bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, carrying, stooping, kneeling, and lifting overhead are performed on an occasional basis.

  • Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.

  • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.

  • Operation may cause exposure to water. Wet clothes or shoes/boots is possible.
