About the Role

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician supports the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, control and electrical systems used in oil and gas operations.

The role will be working on a 14/14 rotation on Chevron's Tamar Production Platform. Tamar is situated 18 miles off the coast of Isreal, with a 90-mile subsea tieback. First gas was in 2014 producing up to 1.25 BCF per day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with the installation, calibration, and maintenance of field instruments such as: pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters; Control valves, actuators, and positioners; analyzers and basic control systems; fire and Gas Detection and Protective Systems

  • Support routine preventive and corrective maintenance activities and assist with basic fault finding and troubleshooting of instrumentation loops.

  • Help with loop checks, functional testing, and commissioning activities. Read and interpret basic P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.

  • Assist with electrical isolations of motors and breakers and basic electrical troubleshooting.

  • Actively participate in on-the-job training and formal technical training. Demonstrate continuous improvement using technical manuals and associated documentation to gain knowledge and understanding.

  • Strictly adhere to Company HSE Policies, Safe Operating Procedures and Control of Work (Permit) systems. Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.

  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas. Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Basic understanding of industrial instrumentation and electrical principles.

  • Willingness to work in oil & gas operating environments, 14-day shifts and site-based work.

  • Technical diploma, vocational training, or apprenticeship in: Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I); Instrumentation; Automation or related discipline

  • Ability to work independently or within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Good verbal and written English skills.

Scope Factor

  • The preferred candidate should have a basic understanding of maintenance on electrical or instrumentation equipment in an operating process facility. They shall be eager to learn and show initiative on the job.

  • They should be able to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace and understand their role in maintaining safe operations.

  • Knowledge of fire and gas protective systems will be advantageous.

  • The candidate should be comfortable using written and spoken English and able to communicate clearly.
