Senior Engineers Job Duties

Senior Engineers for Westmont, IL location. Develop, enhance, test, and maintain models of complete vehicles and the underlying software architecture, allowing seamless integration of vehicle subsystem models, including subsystem and supervisory controls, at varying levels of detail. Work within the mature GT-SUITE platform and software architecture on projects focused on continuous improvement of performance, scalability, and user-experience aspects of solutions. Test computational models in the context of integrated simulations of real-life systems aimed at addressing customers’ needs at different stages of their product development cycle. Collaborate with other developers and application engineers on functional and I/O requirements and design of models. Adaptation of models to user requirements. Maintain the general Controls library infrastructure and algorithms. Develop application-specific control strategies that easily can be used by customers. Develop and integrate MBD solutions into system-level solutions. Technical environment: computational modeling, system controls, vehicle drive cycle analysis, subsystem evaluations, and model integration; engineering programming languages (MATLAB, C, C++, and Python); Powertrain and controls in conventional and electrified vehicles; Control theory, optimal control theory, model-based control theory; Mathworks/MATLAB and Simulink software; Data-based modeling, machine learning, and neural networks; Driving automation (AD, ADAS) technologies; MBD and vehicle dynamics; Physics-based simulation with controls optimization.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 2 years of academic research experience with computational modeling required. Required skills: computational modeling, system controls, vehicle drive cycle analysis, subsystem evaluations, and model integration; engineering programming languages such as MATLAB, C, C++, and Python; Powertrain and controls in conventional and electrified vehicles; Control theory, optimal control theory, model-based control theory; Mathworks/MATLAB and Simulink software; Data-based modeling, machine learning, and neural networks; Driving automation (AD, ADAS) technologies; MBD and vehicle dynamics; Physics-based simulation with controls optimization. Less than 5% travel to attend industry conferences and company sponsored trade shows required. Some telecommuting permitted.
