Description: Current need for Sacramental Priest on Thursday, Friday, & Sunday

Ability to take On-Call Emergency Coverage, on rotation

Per Diem

Purpose:

Provides sacramental ministries of the Roman Catholic Church to Catholic patients, visitors, and staff as a member of the Spiritual Care Service or Department.

What you will do:

-Provides assessment of sacramental needs and priestly interventions primarily in connection with the sacramental ministries of the Roman Catholic Church, especially the Sacramental Anointing of the Sick.

-Collaborates with Spiritual Care Team (Clinical Chaplains & Volunteer Eucharistic Ministers) and interdisciplinary colleagues to ensure that the sacramental needs of patients and families are met.

-Proactively rounds in the ICUs to ensure that the Catholic patients and families receive spiritual and religious support.

-Officiates mass celebration in the chapel: Thursday 11am, Friday 11am, Sundays 12pm.

(There is flexibility to alternate on Sundays).

-Documents priestly sacramental interventions provided to patients in the Electronic Medical Record.

-Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior

-Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Education & Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be an ordained Roman Catholic priest in good standing, who enjoys the faculties of a Catholic Bishop, with Permission to Minister granted by the Catholic Bishop of the relevant local Diocese for sacramental, pastoral ministry. Master of Divinity or equivalent degree.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to relate well with individual persons and in order to interact effectively in ministry.

  • Must have the ability to provide ministry in the context of an ecumenical team ministry and maintain a flexible work schedule.

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

*Must possess the emotional stability, pastoral sensitivity, and non-anxious pastoral presence required for high-stress, critical care, and end-of-life emergencies.
