The Stratospheric ISR business unit within Ondas Sentinel is focused on one of the most unique mission areas in aerospace and defense: manufacturing and operating high-altitude stratospheric balloon systems. Few companies in the world can do this work at operational scale. That means our teams are not simply maintaining existing systems; they are building new capabilities, solving first-of-their-kind challenges, and helping define what persistent.

Job Description The Mechanical Engineer will work on the design of new and existing high-altitude balloons, stratocraft, launch equipment, and other subsystems.

Role Responsibilities Work cross functionally with Engineering and Design teams to develop new and existing products

Reviews design specifications and project requirements

Evaluates performance issues through troubleshooting and failure investigation

Creates detailed design schematics through the use of design software

Field testing flight hardware with assistance from the operations team

Qualifications BS in Mechanical Engineering

4+ years of Mechanical Design Experience

Solid understanding of structural design and analysis using hand calcs and SolidWorks Simulation

Use of Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA)

Strong understanding of GD&T

Working knowledge of ASME standards

Proficient in the use of Mechanical Design programs such as SolidWorks

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Points Experience working with Aerospace materials

Experience with high altitude balloon design

MS in Mechanical Engineering
