Full job description
The Lathe Operator role requires the following capabilities:
- Operate production and inspection equipment in accordance with SOPs and Work Instructions to meet quality standards.
- Set up and perform lathe operations (facing cores, turning OD, boring holes) with proper tool selection and speeds/feeds.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, protractors) and read CAD drawings/prints to verify specifications.
- Perform finishing work with required quality signoffs from inspector or supervisor.
- Operate PIV equipment (e.g., hoists) safely and support large wheel core handling and inventory activities.
- Maintain tools (including sharpening) and complete routine equipment tasks such as end-of-day oiling.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and maintain accurate inspection and shop order documentation.
**Your Skills and Expertise **
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Winterthur Technologies requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or higher.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience operating lathe machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic CAD drawings/prints with demonstrated accuracy.
- Basic math proficiency, including measurement calculations (e.g., decimals, fractions, tolerances).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and follow written/verbal instructions.
