ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

  • Operate various machines within the cell

  • Makes minor adjustments as necessary or notify Lead person or Set up person if a more significant adjustment is required

  • Maintains a clean machine and organized work area

  • Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed

  • Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs

  • Performs a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring of parts

  • Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances

  • Follows schedules and procedures

  • Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training

  • Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition

  • Assists other operators if necessary

  • Inspects work in progress, using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or Work Instructions

  • Responsible for quality of own work

  • Forklift (i.e., powered industrial truck) operation

  • All other duties as assigned

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and / or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or become proficient through training

  • Computer literacy

  • Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e., micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.

  • Capable of using hand tools (i.e., screwdriver, wrenches, etc.)

  • Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

The employee must frequently lift / move and / or push / pull up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift / move and / or push / pull up to 50 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Use of vision correction is acceptable, if necessary; however, any vision correction apparatus must meet all safety guidelines for the area of activity.
