WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Monitoring and controlling water treatment systems and maintain adequate potable water supplies for firefighting and personal use. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will monitor and control the water treatment process that include, chemical addition, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, chlorination, filtration, pH control, and fluoridation. You will analyze present and anticipated raw water quality, evaluate test results, and change chemical feed rates, filtration rates, and other parameters to keep operations within established limits. You will maintain water system storage capacity by monitoring water tank elevations, and coordinating filtration rates. You will control the operation of the raw water pumps when required to match plant operations to meet the treatment demand.
