Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description
This role operates heavy equipment to support material handling and site operations at both a power plant and adjacent landfill. The Heavy Equipment Operator primarily drives a dump truck to move lime and occasionally operates a water wagon to support site dust control and other operational needs.
Responsibilities

Operate a dump truck to safely transport and move lime and other materials around the site.

Drive and operate a water wagon as needed to support site operations, including dust control and moisture management.

Handle and maneuver heavy equipment such as excavators and dozers to support construction and material movement activities, as required.

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Follow all site safety procedures and traffic rules while operating equipment within the power plant and landfill areas.

Coordinate with site personnel to understand daily work assignments and complete tasks efficiently and accurately.

Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.

Work across both the power plant and landfill locations on the same property, adapting to changing site conditions and priorities.
Essential Skills

Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including dump trucks.

Ability to safely operate a water wagon in an industrial or construction environment.

Experience working with excavators and dozers in construction or heavy equipment operations.

Strong awareness of safety practices and procedures in industrial or construction sites.

Ability to follow directions, read and understand basic work instructions, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

Capability to perform basic equipment inspections and identify potential mechanical issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience working at power plants, landfills, or similar industrial facilities.

Familiarity with material handling and movement of lime or other bulk materials.

Work Environment
This position is based at a power plant and an adjacent landfill located on the same property. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with occasional overtime of up to approximately five hours and no weekend work. The environment is industrial and outdoors, involving exposure to weather, dust, and active heavy equipment operations. The role requires operating dump trucks, water wagons, and other heavy machinery such as excavators and dozers. Employees should expect to wear appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for an industrial and construction-type setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Siloam Springs, AR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
