Job Description:

Position: Federal Work Study Student – Cafe' & Catering Operations Assistant

Location: Culinary Arts Division, on-campus

Nature of Duties: T he Café & Catering Operations Assistant provides administrative and operational support for the Culinary Arts café and catering program. This position assists with the organization, documentation, inventory management, and day-to-day operations that keep the café and catering program running efficiently. Students will gain practical experience in hospitality management, business operations, purchasing, and event coordination while supporting faculty and enhancing the overall success of the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize storage areas, m aintain inventory records, conduct inventory counts, and assist with receiving deliveries

  • Update standardized recipes, costing spreadsheets, production schedules, and other operational documents.

  • Maintain digital and physical files, customer records, catering paperwork, and production information

  • Assist with catering logistics by preparing packing lists, organizing equipment and supplies, and tracking inventory

  • Support purchasing and cost control through vendor price updates, food cost calculations, and inventory monitoring

  • Assist with marketing efforts by creating menus, signage, promotional materials, digital menu boards, and approved social media content

  • Collect and maintain operational data, including production records, customer feedback, and compliance documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled as a student at Columbus Technical College

  • Completed a FAFSA and be identified as being eligible for federal aid

  • Complete a Federal Work-Study Employment Application
