Position Overview

We are looking for a full-time, tech-savvy Accounting Manager in Munich to establish internal financial and accounting processes and ensure proper bookkeeping. You will be focused on daily operational tasks as well as other exciting global projects.

Please note that the position is in Munich, Germany and requires individual to relocate.

Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Close Process Management

  • The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for the accurate, timely, and compliant management of the financial close process. This includes:
  • Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Closing: Taking full ownership of the entire financial closing cycle, ensuring all entries, accruals, and reconciliations are completed efficiently and in accordance with relevant accounting standards (HGB). This encompasses managing the closing calendar, coordinating with other departments for necessary inputs, and reviewing preliminary results.
  • Financial Statement Reporting: Preparing and reviewing comprehensive financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) for internal management use and external reporting requirements. This involves ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the reported figures, including detailed analysis of variances and trends.
  • Treasury responsibilities: encompass the comprehensive management of accounts receivable aging to ensure timely collections, the meticulous preparation of vendor payments to maintain strong supplier relationships, and the diligent monitoring of cash flow to ensure financial stability and support strategic decision-making within the organization.
  • Serve as POC for an external accounting firm and tax advisor.
  • Develop an e-invoicing procedure that streamlines the billing process, enhances accuracy, and facilitates timely payments.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy and compliance of VAT and Corporate Tax returns prepared by external accounting firms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or similar
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting and/or finance experience
  • Native in German & fluent in English
  • Ability to work independently on the monthly accounting cycle
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of German GAAP
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or other accounting software

Plus if you have

  • Prior experience in public accounting
  • Experience in the software industry or a multinational company
  • Knowledge in German or European tax
  • CPA or German equivalent (WP)
