Job Title: Panel Builder
Job Description
This role focuses on building and wiring industrial control panels and enclosures using electrical schematics. You will lay out components, install and wire electrical devices, and occasionally connect completed panels to machinery. The position offers steady, first-shift hours in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment with strong benefits and an employee-owned culture.
Responsibilities

Interpret and read electrical schematics to plan and execute the layout of panels, enclosures, and boxes.

Determine the placement of racks and rails, including spacing and mounting locations, to support components inside the panel.

Drill and tap holes in panels and enclosures to mount push buttons, power supplies, motor controls, and other components.

Install and wire push buttons, power supplies, motor controls, and related electrical devices according to schematics and company standards.

Build and wire industrial control panels and control enclosures from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and quality.

Use Rittal cabinets and enclosures and install Eaton components as part of the panel build process.

Wire all internal connections within the panel, verifying continuity, proper terminations, and adherence to wiring diagrams.

As needed, connect completed panels to machinery, coordinating with other team members to ensure proper integration.

Prepare panels for shipment when they are not being connected to machinery on-site, ensuring they are labeled, organized, and ready for the customer.

Work with panels of various sizes, ranging from small units a few inches in size to large panels up to 8 feet tall and several feet wide.

Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety procedures within a manufacturing environment.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Essential Skills
-
Proven experience building and wiring electrical panels in accordance with electrical schematics.

Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams with accuracy.

Hands-on experience as a panel builder, panel wirer, or working with industrial control panels and control enclosures.

Strong electrical assembly and wiring skills, including proper termination, routing, and labeling.

Ownership of standard tools of the trade for panel building and wiring, or willingness to purchase them, with major tools provided by the employer.

General electrical knowledge consistent with work performed by electricians or electrical assemblers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Machine wiring experience is a plus, as it often enhances intuition and effectiveness when building panels.

Background in industrial control panel assembly or similar manufacturing environments is preferred.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover Park, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
