Job Description:
- Assesses patient status upon arrival to the PACU and performs ongoing assessments, including respiratory status, O2 saturation, vital signs, dressings, output from foley and drains, and heart rhythms. Recognizes and responds immediately to life-threatening situations according to PACU protocol. Identifies significant changes in patient's condition, reports to anesthesia/head nurse/charge nurse or surgeon, and documents all appropriate actions. Implements the plan of care to assist the patient in returning to the outpatient area or surgical floor unit. Administers medications competently in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. Observes, documents, and reports patients' responses to medications and nursing care in the paper chart or EMR. Communicates accurate and thorough patient information upon relinquishing care to other healthcare workers. Participates as an effective member of the patient care team to facilitate the efficient operation of the PACU. Delegates responsibilities to others based on their roles, knowledge, and capabilities. Maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked nursing unit free of safety hazards by the end of the shift. Monitors the Electronic Medical Record for new physician orders and diagnostic results. Performs all duties relating to Real Time Scanning accurately and efficiently. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Work Experience:
- 1+ years nursing experience with surgical patients [Preferred]
- 1+ years ICU or recovery room experience [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]

Pay Range:
$31.64 - $50.13
