Engineering Assistant III/Plumber
St. George’s University invites applicants for a full-time Engineering Assistant/Plumber role, in the Physical Plant department.
Job Description
Objective:
The Plumber will dedicate him or herself to doing their best for St. George’s University, our students and our team and will exemplify the role of a St. George’s University employee while embracing and adhering to the university’s values.
Essential Functions:
Under the Supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Plumber is responsible for ensuring the movement of water and drainage on campus, in accordance with university and regulatory guidelines. other functions involve:

Inspect broken water, drainage and waste lines, defective toilet bowls, wash basins and urinals, as well as other types of plumbing and steam fitting fixtures, fittings, appliances and machinery;

Determine the nature of needed emergency or permanent repairs, and undertakes necessary repair work;

Cover piping and fitting with installation or other compositions;

Install toilets, showers, hot water heating units and other types of plumbing and appliances and machinery, install fitting for pumps;
-
To maintain all water systems, ensuring that drainage and waste lines are in good working order, makes emergency plumbing where necessary.

Responsible for removing blockage from waste pipes, toilets, soil stacks and house drains. Prevents water wastage by repairing and/or replacing worn plumbing.

To install and maintain supply mains, throughout the University Campus and buildings.
Qualifications
-
At least 3 years of comprehensive experience in a work involving the installation, inspection, repair and maintenance of plumbing and steam fitting fixtures, fitting, appliances, machinery – sewerage & domestic gas and electric pumps, various materials pipe lines – copper, galvanize, pex and black steel and Plumbing systems;

High school diploma, plumbing certification and basic computer literacy.

Hours and Travel

A typical work week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday with flexible start, lunch break and end day;
