Summary:

Plans, organizes and directs the provision of engineering/plant services, and associated operations and personnel. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing all new construction, and for overseeing the daily operations of the department.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides timely input into budget planning process for equipment, supplies and staffing, ensuring that requests are properly substantiated, reflect thorough research and are cost effective.

  2. Routinely establishes or revises methods and procedures as needed to stay current with the state-of-the-art and with regulatory requirements, and so that activities can be accomplished in less time, with less effort, or with better quality, without prompting. Maintains an up-to-date Procedures Manual for the section, in proper format, with necessary signature approvals.

  3. Provides for the orientation and on-going training of assigned personnel to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring that documentation systems are established and maintained, so that status, progress and participation can be easily monitored.

  4. Continuously assesses employee performance, documenting significant achievements and/or deficiencies, and coaching or counseling, as appropriate, to maximize employee capabilities and performance.

  5. Establishes and implements effective departmental goals and shares with staff, in accordance with hospital goals.

Education Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager.

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • 15 years of experience in a commercial setting 5 of the 15 years must be in a leadership role.
