Overview

Part-Time, 0.3 FTE

Day Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM

Be part of a dynamic, 46-bed medical-surgical Surgical/Orthopedic unit where your nursing skills play a vital role in patient recovery and outcomes.

Our team cares for both pre- and post-operative surgical patients, as well as general medical patients, in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Nurses are trained across a wide range of surgical specialties, including knee and hip replacements, abdominal surgeries, and thoracic and vascular cases, providing opportunities to expand clinical expertise.

You will also care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, UnityPoint Health’s Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model, fostering collaboration, professionalism, and excellence in nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required on assigned unit in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.

  • Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.

  • Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

  • Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.

  • Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Diploma from an RN program.

  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state. Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.

  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities.
