Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer maintains and repairs factory production machinery, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This role focuses on diagnosing issues with mechanical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing breakdowns on motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, and related components.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect factory production machinery regularly to identify wear and tear before unexpected breakdowns occur.

  • Diagnose and repair issues with motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, and other industrial mechanical components.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery to improve reliability and extend equipment life.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and determine the root cause of equipment failures.

  • Use power tools and shop equipment safely and effectively to complete maintenance and repair tasks.

  • Support basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting on production equipment.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical blueprints, and technical diagrams to guide repair and maintenance work.

  • Work with belt-driven systems, including selecting and installing appropriate belt materials.

  • Operate or support rubber press operations and related mechanical power transmission systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.

  • Monitor and manage maintenance-related inventory to ensure critical parts and materials are available when needed.

  • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on equipment, including lockout/tagout and safe use of tools.

  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.

  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy items as required by the job.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven hands-on experience using power tools and shop equipment.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and production equipment.

  • Knowledge of mechanical power transmission systems, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, and belt-driven equipment.

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and maintenance repair on industrial machinery.

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting capabilities related to production equipment.

  • Basic pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical blueprints, and technical diagrams.

  • Physical stamina to stand for long shifts, climb ladders, and lift heavy items safely.

  • Attention to detail when inspecting machinery and stock inventory for signs of wear and tear.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify root causes of mechanical issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with different belt materials and their appropriate applications in industrial machinery.

  • Exposure to rubber press operations and related mechanical processes.

  • Background in industrial maintenance, including repair of motors, gearboxes, bearings, and rollers.

  • Comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment commonly used in a maintenance shop.

  • Ability to organize and track maintenance inventory to support timely repairs.

Work Environment

This role is based in a factory setting on a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will work around production machinery, motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, and belt-driven systems, as well as rubber press and mechanical power transmission equipment. The position involves frequent use of power tools and shop equipment and requires working on your feet for extended periods, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy items. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliable equipment operation.

This is a Contract position based out of Beacon, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
