Job Summary and Responsibilities

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

As our Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you will help patients in critical and urgent conditions receive immediate, high-quality care so they can achieve rapid stabilization and positive outcomes. Every day you will perform rapid assessments, implement urgent interventions, and evaluate patient responses in a dynamic, high-acuity environment. You will be expected to supervise care according to policies, procedures, and the State Nurse Practice Act. To be successful in this role, you must be skilled in delivering comprehensive patient care under pressure while adhering to established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rapid and comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations for diverse patient populations presenting with urgent and emergent conditions, from minor illness to critical trauma.

  • Implement and manage care plans for acutely ill or injured patients, demonstrating expertise in emergency procedures, cardiac monitoring, wound care, and medication administration in a fast-paced setting.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, specialists, paramedics, and support staff, to coordinate seamless patient flow and optimize treatment outcomes.

  • Educate patients and their families on immediate care needs, discharge instructions, and follow-up plans, ensuring understanding and promoting patient self-management after an ED visit.

  • Maintain readiness for various emergency situations, including mass casualty incidents, critical resuscitations, and rapid response activations, exhibiting adaptability and sound clinical judgment.

  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, infection control measures, and documentation standards specific to the Emergency Department, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practices.

THIS JOB OFFERS BOTH AN INCENTIVE AND RELOCATION: We are offering a $17,500 Sign-On Bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Union Work Agreement:

Shift type/Length: Day, Mid, & Night Shift Required, 12 hours

Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other or every 3rd as schedule allows/2 holidays per year

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Nursing Degree from an approved school of nursing

  • ATLEAST 3 (THREE) YEARS OF EMERGENCY ROOM NURSING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Nursing or Active Registered Nurse license in a compact state

  • Working knowledge of clinical skills in delivery of patient care

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required

  • Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff

  • Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients

  • Maintains confidentiality
