Position Summary
The Manager, Warehouse is responsible for day-to-day warehouse execution with excellence and frontline people leadership within the facility. This role serves as the direct supervisor for hourly warehouse employees, ensuring shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material movement activities are performed safely, accurately, and efficiently. The Warehouse Manager translates enterprise standards, systems, and expectations into real-time execution on the floor, reinforcing Grandma Quality through disciplined operations, Commitment to Craftsmanship through accuracy and care, Nurture Relationships through respectful leadership, and Honor Heritage by protecting product integrity from dock to customer.
Key Responsibilities
Execute daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, staging, storage, picking, and internal material movement to meet service, accuracy, and safety targets.
Serve as the day-to-day supervisor for hourly warehouse employees, providing direction, oversight, coaching, and accountability.
Own daily and weekly labor deployment and scheduling for warehouse teams, aligning staffing to workload and throughput requirements.
Lead hourly employee performance management, including coaching, feedback, corrective action, and recognition in accordance with company policy and People Operations guidance.
Reinforce attendance, punctuality, and work standards consistently and fairly.
Ensure accurate and timely shipping and receiving, including documentation, labeling, system transactions, and hand-offs.
Maintain strong inventory accuracy, including cycle counts, variance investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Execute enterprise WMS and ERP (NetSuite) processes and ensure proper transaction discipline at the site level.
Partner with Production to ensure raw materials, ingredients, and packaging are staged and available to support production schedules.
Coordinate with Transportation, inter-company fleet, and 3PL partners to support outbound shipments and transfers.
Conduct shift start-up and post-shift huddles to confirm plan attainment, identify shortfalls, document issues, and reinforce expectations.
Monitor warehouse KPIs (inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, dock-to-stock time, damages, productivity) and take corrective action in real time.
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and safe material-handling practices, actively leading efforts to reduce incidents and near misses.
Ensure warehouse activities support food safety, Grandma Quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements in partnership with FSQA.
Train, coach, and cross-train warehouse team members on procedures, equipment operation, safety practices, and Grandma Quality standards.
Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve workflows, and increase efficiency, encouraging team input and continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate time and attendance records using POIS and timekeeping systems, managing overtime in accordance with policy.
Communicate warehouse performance, staffing challenges, inventory risks, and operational issues clearly to the Director, Warehousing & Distribution, and Senior Director, Plant Operations.
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and accountable warehouse environment where employees feel supported, heard, and held to high standards.
Other related tasks, as necessary to drive results and support the business.
Qualifications
5+ years of warehouse or distribution leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing or regulated environments.
2+ years of experience supervising hourly employees, including scheduling, performance management, and labor accountability.
Strong working knowledge of shipping/receiving processes, inventory control, and material-handling best practices.
Experience using WMS and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
Experience working with 3PL partners and inter-company transfers.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
Lean/Six Sigma knowledge/experience highly preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Essential Physical Requirements
Ability to spend the majority of the workday in warehouse and manufacturing environments, including standing and walking for extended periods.
Ability to navigate docks, trailers, forklifts, and uneven surfaces safely.
Ability to wear required PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and other protective equipment.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 pounds.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, noise, and warehouse traffic.
Ability and certification to operate and oversee operation of material-handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as required.
Clean, valid driver’s license.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended shifts as operational needs require.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
