Full job description

About ALSO.

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

As a Sr. Validation & Tools Engineer - Web & Cloud, you'll ensure quality across our connected e-mobility platform, from a customer's first purchase touchpoint to the cloud systems powering our vehicles. You'll design and execute manual and automated tests for web applications, APIs, and cloud integrations, while validating data telemetry and end-to-end connectivity. Working closely with developers, data, and product teams, you'll build confidence in every release and drive automation and monitoring to speed up validation velocity.

This is a highly cross-functional role. You should be comfortable moving between web and IoT domains and enjoy turning complex testing procedures into scalable frameworks and dashboards. You'll have the independence to drive initiatives and follow through on implementation.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain manual and automated test suites covering the full user journey on ALSO's digital systems, from e-commerce purchase and account creation through cloud connectivity of the flagship product

  • Create automation frameworks to test web UI, APIs, and cloud integrations

  • Partner with web, cloud, and firmware teams to design and execute end-to-end system validation, confirming reliable data flow between bike, cloud, and user interfaces

  • Build and maintain dashboards and analytics to visualize vehicle telemetry and OTA update metrics

  • Collaborate with developers and product managers to identify, reproduce, triage, and resolve bugs quickly, contributing to root-cause analyses and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to a CI/CD testing pipeline, enabling fast feedback loops for web and cloud releases

  • Manage SIL and HIL test environments using automation frameworks, playing a critical role in SW/HW integration with the cloud backend

  • Bring an ownership mindset to quality, defining clear metrics and building automated reports to drive broad communication and system stability

What You'll Bring

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years in software validation and hands-on programming, embedded software/firmware development, preferably with vertically integrated consumer products; automotive systems a plus

  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, and cloud-based systems (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Postman)

  • Strong programming skills in Python or similar for automation and data validation

  • Familiarity with AWS or equivalent cloud ecosystem, and experience designing end-to-end tests spanning multiple systems and codebases

  • Exposure to data validation and IoT testing preferred (OTA stress tests, data upload validation, downstream integrity)

  • Experience with CI/CD automation workflows (Jenkins or similar) and familiarity with UDS or XCP protocols

  • Expertise in protocols and physical layers (CAN, CAN-FD, USB-PD, etc)

  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems, ideally in functional-safety critical applications, and hardware/software architecture selection with cost/performance tradeoffs (OS, MCU, etc)

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work across firmware, cloud, and web disciplines with cross-functional hardware and software teams

The salary for this position ranges from $170,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

Perks & Benefits

  • Robust health coverage — excellent health, dental and vision insurance covered up to 100% by ALSO with FSA & HSA options

  • One Medical membership and dedicated insurance advocates

  • Rich fertility and family building benefits with Progyny

  • Flexible time off

  • 401(k) match
