Description

JOB FUNCTION:

The Director of Program Services is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Program Services with the supervision of all service area components and management teams in implementing the Early Head Start and Head Start services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Vice President of Head Start/ Early Head and Senior Director of Program Services in planning, implementing and evaluating the program.

  • Analyze the organizational needs and make recommendations to the Vice President of Head Start/ Early Head Start and Senior Director of Program Services.

  • Provide techniques to assist program personnel with organizational problem solving.

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Head Start/ Early Head Start and Senior Director of Program Services to plan and organize, and execute strategic programs leading to further programmatic development.

  • Supports center staff and management teams in implementing high-quality services conducting center visits and assisting as needed.

  • Ensures the safety of all children by participating in monitoring of center, implementation of child safety procedures, reporting accidents, reporting child abuse or neglect, following Standards of Conduct, and reporting any child health/safety concern to supervisor

  • Works with management, center, and agency staff to ensure that collaborations are established with community and state agencies that provide relevant services to Head Start families.

  • Works in partnership with the Program Quality Manager and other management staff to ensure the collection of accurate data for the annual Program Information Report (PIR), assisting in compiling and computing necessary information and ensuring input to Genesis Earth.

  • Maintains a system of open communications with teaching staff, HS managers and specialists.

  • Assist in identifying and developing the training component. Provide training as needed.

  • Provide supervision, leadership, and support to Management team.

  • Assist managers and program personnel in the integration of service and achievement of goals that would lead to program effectiveness.

  • Ensures the safety of all children by participating in monitoring of center, implementation of child safety procedures, reporting accidents, reporting child abuse or neglect, following Standards of Conduct, and reporting any child health/safety concern to supervisor

  • Use responsible State, local, and Head Start resources to be knowledgeable and able to ensure implementation of Head Start Performance Standards and regulations throughout the Head Start Program.

  • Submit written and accurate monthly report to Vice President of Head Start/ Early Head Start and Senior Director of Program Services including summary/analysis of assigned program areas, meetings trainings and workshops attended or facilitated.

  • All other assigned Head Start duties.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum)

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Two years experience in a management or supervisory capacity.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in providing services to Head Start children and families.

  • Must have a valid NJ drivers license and access to an insured vehicle daily.
