40 hours/52 week | Tuesday-Saturday I Between 1:00pm-12:00am

Summary:

This is a floating position that can change site on a day to day basis, position will be housed at Facilities Management site, and mileage will be based on starting there for work assignment.

This floating position is a Community Ed Float Custodian, schedules may vary to clean up after Community Ed events and help out site Custodians as needed.

Under general supervision, performs maintenance and cleaning tasks and operation of various types of cleaning equipment to care for and maintain school facilities and district properties, performs basic building maintenance and performs related work as required. In addition, a Second Shift Floater Custodian, under the direction of the Building Engineer, and with supervision from a Facilities Management Supervisor, a Second Shift Floater Custodian assists school custodian I/II/III's in their use of equipment and follows up on completion of regular task assignments as directed by building Engineer or Facilities Management Supervisor. The Second Shift Floater Custodian may have to monitor evening activities in the building and assists in monitoring the conduct of students and adults in and around the building. Also coordinates with building Engineer, principal, community education coordinators, activity directors and activity site managers regarding setups, occupancy times and special needs or concerns. Communicates with building Engineer and supervisors when there are recognized heating and ventilation issues affecting activities or occupancy comfort; responds to and reports emergency situations and equipment failures and alarms. Responsible for clearing the building of occupants and arming security systems after perimeter checks are complete. Has knowledge and ability to create and remove override entries in building access control system.

This position cannot substitute for a Building Engineers unless the proper licensure is held.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

  • One year of experience working as a custodial or similar position, or working with facilities and systems used to run them.

Certification or Licensing Requirements (prior to job entry):

  • Special or Second-Class C Boiler License (preferred)

  • Certified Pool/Spa Operator (preferred)

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Knowledge of cleaning standards

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals

  • Time management knowledge

Skill Requirements:

  • Skilled in the use and care of floor cleaning equipment

  • Skilled in task prioritization

Certification or Licensing Requirements:

  • None for School Custodian I

  • Special Class C Boilers License in the State of Minnesota for School Custodian II

  • Second Class C Boilers License in the State of Minnesota for School Custodian III

Additional Information:

  • Employees shall be paid an additional forty cents per hour for all hours worked between the hours of 5 pm and 6 am. In lieu of shift differential pay during their lunch period, custodians will receive an extra 2.5 cents per hour that is included in their salary.

  • Single Coverage – District pays 100% of premium (FREE) + contributes $2,612.50 into HRA annually

  • Family Coverage – District pays 75% of premium (25% employee contribution) + contributes $5,225.00 into HRA annually

Dental Plan:

  • Single Coverage – District pays 100% of Basic premium (FREE)

  • Family Coverage – District pays 25% of Premium

Life Insurance:

  • District provides minimum of $50,000 of life insurance at no cost, employee may purchase supplemental life insurance

Long Term Disability:

  • District-provided at no cost to employee

Flexible Spending Accounts:

  • Employees may elect to contribute on a pre-tax basis to Health Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Accounts

Retirement:

  • The District contributes 7.25% of your total salary in the Public Employees Retirement Association pension plan

  • Employees may also elect to participate in Tax-Shelter Annuity options.

Time Off:

  • Each bargaining unit contract defines time off provisions such as holidays, sick/personal leave, vacation, etc.
