Duties Description Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) is recruiting for a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 to provide a full range of care and treatment to individuals incarcerated in the State and County Correctional System. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As a Psychiatrist, you will be part of a diverse interdisciplinary team focused on providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and evidence based treatment including:• Performing psychiatric screenings, evaluations, and examinations.• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures, diagnosing, and treating various psychiatric conditions.• Administering psychiatric treatments, medications, and therapies. Conducting follow-up exams and modifying treatments as needed.• Collaborating with other licensed physicians and healthcare providers on diagnoses and treatment plans, and approves treatment recommendations.• Competency restoration.• Correctional mental health services.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.2. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.3. License and Certification: Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.
