SciTec, a subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace, seeks a Senior Staff Numerical Algorithm Software Engineer to develop advanced remote sensing algorithms for U.S. National Security. The ideal candidate will work in a collaborative, small-team environment, prototyping and integrating advanced algorithms into government frameworks. This role focuses on low-latency data processing, fusion, and tracking algorithms for remote sensing systems.

Key focus areas include Research new algorithms and analysis techniques for remote sensor data exploitation, Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic mastery of Python and/or C++, and Develop and tune Kalman filtering, tracking, and data exploitation algorithms in Python and C++.

Successful candidates bring U.S. Citizenship, Bachelor's In Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Or Computer Science, and 5+ Years Professional Experience In Technological Fields. Important skills include Python, C++, Software Design, Software Architecture, Kalman Filtering, and Tracking Algorithms. Preferred (not required): Exploitation And Analysis Of E/O, Exploitation And Analysis Of SAR, Exploitation And Analysis Of Spectral, and Exploitation And Analysis Of RF.

For over forty-five years, we have supported Department of Defense customers by developing innovative remote sensing algorithms, tools, and techniques to deliver world-class data exploitation capabilities supporting missile defense; intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance; space domain awareness; and aircraft survivability missions.

SciTec has immediate opportunities for talented software & algorithm developers and engineers to support programs focusing on low-latency data processing, fusion, and tracking algorithms for exploitation of remote sensing systems. Our ideal candidate will work well in multiple software languages as part of a rapid pace, collaborative, small-team environment consisting of Scientists, Engineers, and Developers and be able to prototype and develop advanced algorithms leading to eventual integration as part of government frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Research new algorithms and analysis techniques for remote sensor data exploitation

  • Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic mastery of Python and/or C++; comfort with software design and architecture

  • Develop and tune Kalman filtering, tracking, and data exploitation algorithms in Python and C++

  • Characterize quality/performance of algorithms and sensor systems

  • Work as part of an Agile team and contribute to shared tools

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science

  • At least 5 years of ongoing professional experience technological fields (additional years of education may be substituted for years of experience)

  • Experience with state estimation, tracking, or Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC)

  • At least 2 years of academic or professional experience in C++ and Python

  • Fluency with Linux operating systems

  • Ability to work full-time in-person in Boulder, CO office location

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred

  • A current active DoD security clearance

  • An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science

  • Professional experience with application orchestration and/or deployment to the cloud

  • Professional experience with Agile software development

  • Professional experience with the exploitation and analysis of OPIR, E/O, SAR, Spectral, RF, or other remotely sensed data

The pay range for this position is $127,000 - $157,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
