40 hours per week | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Every other weekend

Maine Veterans’ Homes is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Maine’s veterans and their families. Our mission is “Caring for Those Who Served,” and we are committed to being the Provider and Employer of Choice while honoring our special role as a Veteran Advocate.

We are seeking an energetic, dependable, and team-oriented Food Service Worker to join our 5-star dietary team at our Bangor Home. If you enjoy working with people and take pride in providing excellent service, we’d love to have you join our team!

What You’ll Do

As a Food Service Worker, you will help ensure our residents receive nutritious meals and a positive dining experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, portioning, and serving meals and beverages

  • Setting up dining and food service areas before meals

  • Assisting with meal service and ensuring residents receive meals according to established procedures

  • Stocking food, supplies, and service areas

  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen, dining, and food preparation areas

  • Completing dishwashing and post-meal clean-up

  • Following all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures

  • Properly storing food and supplies and maintaining clean, organized work areas

  • Assisting the dietary team with other duties as needed

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment

  • Able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and coworkers

  • Attentive to cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation

  • Willing to work every other weekend as part of the regular schedule

  • Previous food service, dietary, healthcare, or institutional food service experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right candidate
