Description
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising inpatient/outpatient/emergency room registrations and completion of documents and processes, as well as switchboard operations. Monitoring the daily hospital census of admissions and discharges.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to be successful.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

Interview, hire, schedule, orient, evaluate, counsel and terminate employees of the department.

Responsible for time sheet authentication.

Establish, implement and ensure that Patient Access departments policies, procedures and practices are in accordance with regulatory agencies and overall hospital policies as applicable.

Conduct regular staff meetings to inform staff of changes in procedures, training, and general hospital updates.

Resolve complaints regarding Patient Access in a timely manner using good judgment and good customer relations skills.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
-
Minimum (2) years of prior supervisory experience in inpatient/outpatient/emergency room Patient Access setting preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.

Knowledge of the legal and technical aspects of admitting, third party insurance, and scope of responsibility in treating indigent patients.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be proficient with computer applications necessary for effective management of all Patient Access processes.
