Summary:

The Special Mechanic/Vehicle Electrician (Welder) conducts a variety of testing, repair, installation, and maintenance tasks on equipment including engines, brake systems, suspension, steering, electronics, electrical systems, HVAC, transmission, and painting equipment, as well as:

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions and follow established policies and procedures.

  • Be able to diagnose and repair all electric I/O Controls and Multiplex Wiring Systems.

  • Have the ability to complete wiring conversion for buses with 12v, 24v, 110v and High voltage (EV buses).

  • Must have mechanical abilities: be able to disassemble and reassemble complete electrical components.

  • Must have a working knowledge of reading electrical schematics. Be able to diagnose and repair electrical faults including wiring repair.

  • Be able to diagnose and repair electrical components on all computer-controlled engines and transmissions.

  • Must have the ability to trouble-shoot, analyze and implement effective solutions for operational faults on hybrid vehicle systems and components.

  • Be able to trouble-shoot and repair all electrical components.

  • Working knowledge of air conditioning and electrical systems.

  • Must be able to diagnose and program with a computer all engines, transmissions, and various other systems (i.e., HVAC etc.).

  • Demonstrate ability in the proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment.

  • Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, and drawings

  • Must be able to use and read parts, manual and be able to fill out required forms.

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.

  • Must keep area clean, uncluttered, and safe. Must follow established shop safety policies and procedures

Education and Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, ASE certification a plus

  • Must have a CDL license

  • Must have five years' experience in the welding field.

  • Be able to pass the pre-employment physical and background checks

  • Must be certified and able to supply copies of prior certifications

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required

  • $3,000 Signing Bonus for CDL A or B Permit Holders with air brake and passenger endorsement (also CDL A or B licenses holders that have either air brake or passenger endorsement) *
