Full job description
Senior Preconstruction Manager Southern California candidates | Light Travel + Remote
Growing construction management consulting firm seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to lead budgeting, bid management, scope review, and the transition from real estate through design into construction.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, working directly with clients, and playing a key role in delivering hospitality and retail projects nationwide.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the preconstruction phase from site acquisition through construction handoff
- Develop and manage project budgets across multiple active locations
- Issue RFPs, solicit subcontractor/vendor bids, and perform detailed scope reviews
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and cost risks while ensuring complete bid coverage
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, project managers, and construction teams throughout design
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost tracking
- Serve as a trusted client resource for budget, scope, and preconstruction guidance
- Help improve internal processes and support continued implementation of Procore
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years of commercial preconstruction experience
- Background with a General Contractor, Owner's Representative, or Construction Management firm
- Strong experience managing budgets, not just reporting on them
- Proven ability to review bids, evaluate scopes, and identify missing or overlapping work
- Experience with hospitality, restaurant, retail, or other commercial projects
- Comfortable managing RFIs, submittals, and change orders with a strong understanding of cost impacts
- Procore experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
Why You'll Love This Opportunity:
- Mostly remote work with occasional travel (approximately 1–2 overnight trips per month)
- Join a collaborative, entrepreneurial team where your input has a direct impact
- Opportunity to own the entire preconstruction process and help shape company operations
- Long-term growth with a stable, expanding organization
- Competitive salary up to $150,000, comprehensive healthcare benefits, 401(k) with company match, profit sharing eligibility, and unlimited PTO
