Full job description

  • Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.

  • Inspects transportation passes to prevent unauthorized travel.

  • Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus safely.

  • Completes appropriate discipline reports and submits to supervisor.

  • Assists pupils who have a disabling condition.

  • Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion

  • Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities, which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.

Job Qualifications

  • Possess even temperament and ability to comprehend and carry out the objectives of the position in a way conducive to good personal relationships. Also possesses good judgment, good moral character, personal cleanliness, is courteous, neat, cooperative, punctual, tactful, dependable, honest and loyal.

  • Must complete a 3-hour pre-service training course prior to employment.

  • complete the Basic 10-hour Bus Driver Training course during the first year of employment, and attend two refresher courses each year as mandated by the State Education Department and attend any other mandated courses.

  • Must complete a Basic First Aid Course if required by the student’s IEP.
