Full job description

In addition to short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health outreach services to enhance the

psychological and emotional well-being of students and the College community, the Senior Counselor is

responsible for an administrative portfolio including outreach, clinical, and programmatic responsibilities in an

inclusive, collaborative, and integrated Center for Health and Wellness.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $77,215 - $89,867 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provides psychological counseling and crisis intervention for students, implements appropriate assessments and clinical interventions, and provides consultation to Staff Counselors as needed

  • Organize and implements Counseling's outreach activities including: group programming, workshop series, trainings to achieve Counseling's outreach goals.

  • Assesses, builds, and maintains relationships with campus partners to foster collaboration, reduce mental health stigma, and increase help/service seeking amongst students

  • Facilitates skills and process trainings for students and employees including cross-discipline trainings led by Center for Health and Wellness staff

  • Completes timely documentation in the EHR according to best practices and Counseling policies

  • Supports the Director, and Associate Directors with identifying and addressing issues related to risk, referrals, confidentiality, and crisis management

  • Participates in Counselor on-call rotation

  • Provides pre-licensure intern and/or student worker supervision as assigned

Requirements

  • Clinical experience in assessment, treatment planning, shared decision-making, and crisis response

  • Demonstrated success in outreach, group programs, or other therapeutic modalities outside of one-on-one therapy

  • Demonstrated use of multicultural approaches to clinical care and proven record of successful work with clients and stakeholders from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds

  • Commitment to addressing intersections of multiple identities and their related health outcomes

  • Successful collaboration with clinical and administrative staff to support student success

  • Strong knowledge of the social, psychological, and physical developmental stages of students

  • 5 years of experience

  • Master’s degree required in counseling, psychology, social work or related clinical field with current, or eligible to obtain, Vermont licensure

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity tools. Regularly moves about inside the office and

requires regular cross-campus and cross-town travel. Schedule flexibility is required including occasional

early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to attend events and facilitate programming according to

the academic calendar.
