Five Positions

The City of Orrville is seeking applicants for five positions:

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I will monitor wastewater processes via electronic and computer controls and meters; determine flow into and within plant; take samples, perform basic lab tests and make adjustments as necessary; take readings and make operational checks on equipment and controls; maintains equipment; keeps records and reports and perform preventative and corrective maintenance; lubricates equipment, cleans and paints facilities; and more. The pay range is $28.26 to $35.31, plus benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a valid Ohio driver’s license and a Class I Wastewater Operator’s Certificate issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is a Civil Service position, filled only by application and written exam. The application is available here. Only applications submitted by email to [email protected] will be accepted. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Sept, 14. The exam will take place at 6 p.m. on Sept. 17 at Schmid Hall, 501 Hall St., Orrville, Ohio. Doors to the building will open at 5:50 p.m. and the exam will start promptly at 6 p.m. Allow one hour for the exam. To be admitted to the exam, you must show a valid Ohio driver’s license upon arrival. Calculators will be provided, if necessary. The exam is open to all citizens and those who have legally declared their intentions of becoming citizens.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II will use skilled laboratory work in collecting samples, analyzing chemical and biological components using sophisticated testing equipment, recording and reporting findings as well as the operation of wastewater treatment plant equipment and facilities on an assigned shift. This position also serves as the lead person in the lab in addition to being responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plant and for performing other tasks related to the treatment of wastewater. The pay range is $31.86 to $39.85, plus benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Ohio driver’s license, considerable experience in wastewater treatment operations, and a Class II Wastewater Operator’s Certificate issued by the Ohio EPA. Lineworker I

The Lineworker I serves as a ground person, and duties include preparing material for higher level lineworkers, observing work activities around energized circuits for hazards, operating assigned equipment, working on dead or low voltage circuits, stocking line trucks with necessary supplies and equipment, trimming trees, attending training sessions to prepare for advancement, and more. The pay range is $28.26 to $35.31, plus benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; specialized powerline training and/or experience in line work that includes verifiable, certified training and experience in climbing. Lineworker II

The Lineworker II handles customer service, line outages and emergency problems on secondary lines up to 600 volts with minor supervision; repairs, tests and installs three-phase electric meters independently without close supervision; trains new employees and subordinates; and more. The pay range is from $31.86 to $39.85, plus benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; specialized training and/or experience in line work that includes verifiable, certified training and experience in climbing. Utility Worker — Power Plant

The Utility Worker will perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance and operation of high-pressure steam boilers, turbines, fuel and ash systems and other equipment in an electrical power generation plant. The pay range is $24.99-$31.23, plus benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented by specialized vocational training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the role. Some knowledge of mechanical, electrical or electronic systems is preferred. Applicants must be a United States Citizen or have legally declared their intentions of becoming a United States Citizen, and must have a valid driver’s license.
