Duties Description Pilgrim Psychiatric Center (PPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists to serve as the Clinical Leads of multidisciplinary treatment teams. Positions are available in PPC’s inpatient units located on the main campus in West Brentwood, NY.As a Psychiatrist at PPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient centered, and recovery focused treatments to individuals with mental illness 18 year of age or older; including:Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissionsCreating treatment plans including medication managementObtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as neededProviding individual and group psychotherapySupervising Psychiatric Residents and FellowsAbout PPC:PPC serves the complex psychiatric needs of persons with mental illness in Nassau and Suffolk County. PPC has a recovery-oriented treatment philosophy and provides a wide array of services including behavioral modalities, animal assisted therapy, and ECT. PPC is affiliated with several academic institutions and provides clinical training to Psychiatric Residents and Fellows.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.*Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.
