Job Description:
The Principal, Strategy Insights & Analytics plays a key role in transforming data into actionable business insights that drive strategic decision-making across Dave & Buster's and Main Event. This role partners with leaders across Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Revenue Management to analyze business performance, develop reporting, identify trends, and support strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, comfortable working with large datasets, and able to communicate complex findings in a clear and meaningful way to both technical and business audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Business Insights
- Analyze transaction-level and operational data using SQL and other analytical tools to identify trends, opportunities, and business risks.
- Develop recurring and ad hoc reporting that supports Revenue Growth, Pricing, Promotions, Sales Performance, and other strategic initiatives.
- Build financial and operational models to evaluate business performance and support decision-making.
- Create dashboards and visualizations that provide leaders with actionable insights into key business metrics.
- Translate complex analyses into concise recommendations for business partners and leadership.
Reporting & Analytics
- Partner with business stakeholders to define reporting requirements and develop scalable reporting solutions.
- Monitor data quality and validate reporting accuracy to ensure reliable business insights.
- Support ongoing improvements to reporting processes, analytics capabilities, and data governance.
- Work closely with IT and Data Engineering teams to improve data accessibility and reporting efficiency.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Finance, Marketing, Operations, Revenue Management, and Technology teams to support strategic initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects by providing analytical support, business insights, and performance measurement.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, data-driven manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in business analytics, strategy, consulting, finance, or a related analytical role.
- Advanced SQL skills with experience querying large datasets.
- Experience with Databricks or similar cloud-based data platforms preferred.
- Experience building dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with financial modeling and business performance analysis.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable business recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in business analytics, corporate finance / FP&A, data science, management consulting, corporate strategy, or revenue management.
- Experience working with large consumer, hospitality, retail, or restaurant organizations.
- Familiarity with pricing, promotional analytics, customer behavior, or sales analytics.
