Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking compassionate and dependable Personal Support Specialist (PSS). As a PSS, you'll play a vital role in helping our residents live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

Available Shift

Day Shift:6:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Position Summary

As a PSS, you will provide compassionate, resident-centered care by assisting with activities of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life. Working alongside nurses and other caregivers, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for the veterans entrusted to our care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)

  • Support resident mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation

  • Assist with meals, hydration, and feeding as needed

  • Observe residents and report changes in condition to the nursing team

  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and meaningful interactions

  • Maintain accurate documentation

  • Follow all safety, infection prevention, and resident care policies

  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team

Qualifications

  • Current Personal Support Specialist (PSS) certification required

  • Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused

  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.

  • Basic computer skills
