Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing support and assistance to clinical staff in the management of medication ordering and delivery.

  • Communicates among a number of individuals, including patients, co-workers, insurance companies and prescribers

  • Demonstrates compassion and care by proactively identifying and resolving potential problems.

  • Works on a team to fulfill prescription orders from start to finish with an in-depth understanding of each workstation

  • Understands and follows applicable Federal and State laws (e.g. HIPAA), regulations , professional stands, and ethical principles.

  • Complies with policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, and protect patient privacy and security

  • Balances quality and efficiency in all tasks, contributing to both patient outcomes and broader team goals

  • As allowable by state law, certified and trained pharmacy technicians can expand on their clinical and managerial responsibilities

  • Promotes a sense of “teamwork” through demonstration of self-direction and self-motivation.

  • Displays outstanding customer service skills when interacting with patients, outside providers, referral sources or others.

  • Other tasks as identified and allowed per regulations

  • Responsible for continued professional growth and development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

EDUCATION: High School graduate or GED required. Current valid and unrestricted pharmacy technician license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy

EXPERIENCE: Must have completed Pharmacy Technician Trainee requirements

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills in English as well as basic reading and math skills. Computer proficiency with an electronic medical record. Commitment to exceptional customer service.

Working Conditions:

Physical Environment:

Frequent sitting, occasional standing & walking, and lifting of 5-10 lbs

Manual Dexterity:

Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate computer keyboard.

Audible/Visual Demands:

Requires ability to see computer screen and reports.

Upholds procedures and systems to safeguard the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.

Compensation range is $23.00 - $33.00 per hour. Final rate depends on years of experience.
