Job Title: Director of Clinical Education, Nursing (prelicensure) and Clinical Assistant

Professor (15 credits per academic year)

Department: School of Nursing and Health Sciences

Reports to: Dean

Job Description:

The Director of Clinical Education provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of undergraduate nursing clinical education. This role ensures high-quality clinical learning experiences, compliance with accreditation standards, and the development and sustainability of clinical partnerships that support program growth and student success. This position comes with a faculty rank Clinical Assistant Professor and a teaching load of 15 credits.

Duties/Responsibilities: Clinical Education Oversight

  • Provide leadership and oversight of clinical education across nursing programs, ensuring alignment with program outcomes and clinical objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with CCNE standards related to clinical education, including documentation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop, expand, and sustain clinical partnerships to support student placements and program capacity.

  • Vet and approve clinical sites to ensure appropriateness for meeting course and program clinical objectives.

  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate clinical learning environments, student experiences, and site performance.

  • Supervise the Clinical Coordinator and Compliance Specialist, who report directly to this position.

  • Interview, hire, orient, and evaluate clinical adjunct faculty to ensure instructional quality and alignment with program standards.

  • Collaborate with faculty and leadership to assess clinical effectiveness, address risks, and support continuous quality improvement.

  • Supervise clinical adjunct faculty

  • Teach up to 15 credits annually, as assigned, consistent with program needs and expertise.

Travel Expectations

  • Routine regional travel is required to support clinical site visits, partnership development, and program oversight.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing discipline required

  • Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential required

  • Doctorate in Nursing or related field preferred

  • Strong Medical Surgical Skills with hospital supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical education leadership, accreditation processes, and partnership development

  • Strong knowledge of CCNE standards and regulatory requirements

  • Proven ability to collaborate across academic and clinical settings

Preferred Competencies

  • Strategic thinking with a focus on growth and partnership expansion

  • Effective leadership and team management skills

  • Strong communication, evaluation, and organizational capabilities

Salary:

The annual salary range for this position is $95,000 – $103,000

(commensurate with education, experience, rank, and appointment type).

Hours Expectation:

Full-time, 35 hours per week
