Vehicle Handler

Road & Rail Services

Starting Pay: $18.50 per hour

Position Overview

Road & Rail Services is seeking a dependable Vehicle Handler to support the safe unloading and movement of new automobiles. In this hands-on position, you will drive vehicles off railcars and move them to designated locations within the facility.

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, and operating a variety of new vehicles. Successful candidates will be safety-conscious, reliable, and comfortable working around railcars, ramps, ladders, and moving vehicles.

Primary Responsibilities

Safely load and unload new vehicles from railcars

Drive vehicles to assigned staging or parking locations

Follow designated routes, posted speed limits, and site traffic procedures

Enter and exit vehicles repeatedly during the workday

Inspect vehicles for visible damage before moving them

Maintain safe spacing between vehicles while driving and parking

Climb railcar ladders when required to complete assigned work

Follow company and customer operating procedures

Remain alert to nearby vehicles, equipment, and coworkers

Report vehicle damage, equipment problems, and unsafe conditions promptly

Wear all required personal protective equipment

Keep work areas clean and organized

Assist team members with other vehicle-handling duties as assigned

Qualifications

Valid driver's license

Ability to safely operate passenger vehicles

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

Ability to climb ladders reaching heights of up to 16 feet

Dependable attendance and punctuality

Strong commitment to workplace safety

Ability to work productively as part of a team

Motivation to learn, succeed, and advance within the company

Physical and Work Environment

Vehicle Handlers work in an active rail and automotive environment. The position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and entering and exiting vehicles. Employees must be prepared to work outside in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

The worksite may include elevated noise levels, moving vehicles, railroad equipment, dust, rain, heat, and cold. Required personal protective equipment must be worn as directed.
