Full job description

The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is building the future of sustainable lumber with next-generation sawmill technology. We design and operate state-of-the-art modular sawmills that produce high-grade dimensional wood products with greater efficiency and less waste. Backed by leading investors including Cantos, Slow Ventures, Susa Ventures, Banter Capital, Humba Ventures, and Ravelin Capital.

TLM is seeking a Site HR Coordinator to be the on-the-ground HR presence for our New Albany, Mississippi mill. This role is the day-to-day point of contact for our production and mill employees, supporting everything from onboarding and performance management to employee relations and compliance. You'll work closely with mill leadership and partner remotely with our Head of People to build out HR programs and processes as TLM scales. This is a hands-on, high-trust role for someone who wants to make a direct, visible impact on the people who run our mill.

Location Statement: This role is based onsite at TLM's New Albany, Mississippi mill and is best suited for candidates who are already local to the area or willing to relocate. Regular presence on the production floor is expected.

In This Role, You Will

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for hourly and salaried employees at the New Albany mill, building trust and visibility on the production floor.

  • Support full-cycle onboarding and offboarding for mill hires, including new hire paperwork and orientation.

  • Administer performance review cycles, disciplinary processes, and the safety points system in partnership with production leadership and HR systems (ADP).

  • Support day-to-day employee relations, including answering employee questions, addressing concerns, and escalating issues appropriately.

  • Assist with local recruiting efforts for production and mill roles, including coordinating hiring events and interviews onsite.

  • Partner with the Head of People, based in Seattle, on policy rollout, compensation administration, compliance tracking, and process improvements.

  • Adapt to changing priorities and support team and operational needs as they evolve.

  • Communicate fluently in English and Spanish with employees, and translate HR materials, policies, and communications as needed.

Who You Are

  • Experienced working within a manufacturing, production, or manufactory environment, and comfortable spending time on the plant floor.

  • Hands-on and approachable, with a track record of building trust with hourly, frontline employees.

  • Independent and resourceful, comfortable operating as the sole HR presence onsite without a large local team.

  • A clear, discreet communicator who handles confidential information with sound judgment.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a fast-paced startup environment where processes are still being built.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, and comfortable conducting sensitive HR conversations and translating materials in both languages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of HR generalist or coordinator experience, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.

  • Experience with HRIS systems required; ADP experience strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, and compliance practices in a production or manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to work onsite at the New Albany, MS mill.

We offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including:

  • 100% employer-paid health coverage for employees and dependents (medical, dental, and vision)

  • 100% employer-paid life insurance and disability coverage

  • Paid time off and company holidays

  • The opportunity to help build something from the ground up in an essential, evolving industry

Join our team as we modernize timber from forest to finished product.
