Department: OB-Gyn Maternal Fetal Med Cherry Hill

Location: Penn Medicine Cherry Hill- 1865 Route 70 E

Hours: Fulltime, Monday-Thursday, 8.75 hours per day

Summary: A senior sonographer with greater than 5 years of experience in the imaging specialty field, they are employed and at least two years in a Penn Medicine imaging specialty.

The Lead Ultrasonographer is responsible for performing all ultrasound examinations in addition to departmental duties related to daily operations of the sonographers. The Lead Ultrasonographer will partner closely with administrative and physician leadership to oversee staffing ratios, clinic templates, and regulatory compliance. They will provide clinical and administrative leadership to the sonographer team and advocate for the needs of ultrasound patients and staff. The Lead Ultrasonographer will assist in recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts, budget requests relating to ultrasound equipment, and resource management.

Accountabilities:

Participates in clinical care as necessary.

  • Responsible for onboarding of new hires, working with departmental learners, assisting junior sonographers as needed with clinical care, clinical triage and administrative coordination if needed.

  • As needed, maintaining equipment, patient lists, supplies/inventory, chart prep, regulatory compliance, educational responsibilities, or other responsibilities as delegated by leadership.

  • Assumes overall accountability for their area of responsibility. Delegate’s responsibility to others, in their absence.

  • Maintains positive and effective interpersonal relations with all members of the OBGYN team; including but not limited to all levels of physician, nursing, and support staff.

  • Exhibits leadership qualities in problem solving, setting priorities and clinical excellence.

  • Collaborates with nursing, physicians, and administrative leadership and provides tangible feedback concerning staff performance and operational issues.

  • Assists the practice operations with appropriate staffing, quality, compliance (JACHO, CMS, DOH, OSHA) and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Supports excellence in patient care, patient safety net review and service recovery initiatives.

  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Education and Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

  • Graduate of an Accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School (Required)

  • And 5+ years’ experience in the imaging specialty field they are practicing (MFM, REI, OBGYN, General Radiology, Vascular, Neuro, MSK, cardiology, etc.) with at least 24 months in a Penn Medicine imaging specialty (Required)

Licensure:

  • CPR from the American Heart Association (Required)

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS (Required)

Skills and Abilities:

  • CLINICAL: Understanding of anatomy and physiology

  • COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff

  • COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate technical information and ideas

  • OTHER: Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Salary Range:

$34.94 - $53.78/Hourly
