Full job description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable Machine Operator to join our food manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate, monitor, and maintain production and packaging equipment to ensure products are made safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. This is a great opportunity for individuals with manufacturing experience and strong mechanical aptitude.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate production and packaging machines according to company procedures.

  • Set up equipment, perform changeovers, and make machine adjustments.

  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.

  • Conduct quality checks and accurately document production results.

  • Follow GMP, HACCP, food safety, and sanitation standards.

  • Clean equipment and maintain a safe, organized work area.

  • Complete production, quality, and safety documentation.

  • Handle raw materials and ingredients, lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.

  • Operate pallet jacks and material handling equipment safely.

  • Work with production, maintenance, and quality teams to meet goals.

  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 6 months of manufacturing or production experience.

  • Machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with equipment setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Basic math, reading, and documentation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Dependable, adaptable, and safety-focused.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food manufacturing, chemical, or pharmaceutical production experience.

  • Knowledge of GMP, cGMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.

  • Experience with blending, mixing, or batch processing.

  • Familiarity with pallet jacks and material handling equipment.

  • Quality inspection and metal detector experience.

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.

Work Environment:

  • Food manufacturing facility following strict cGMP and food safety standards.

  • PPE required, including steel-toed shoes, hair nets, and lab coats.

  • Fast-paced, safety-focused production environment.

  • Team-based setting with 5-6 employees per production line.

Schedule:

  • Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 6:50 AM

  • AWS 2-2-3 Rotating Schedule:

  • Work 2 days

  • Off 2 days

  • Work 3 days

  • Alternate the following week

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Affton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
