WHAT WILL YOU DO AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES PROJECT WORKER?

Under the direction of the Environmental Services Supervisor/Team Leader, performs routine and specialized cleaning tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, terminal cleaning, floor care, waste removal—including bio-hazard materials—and use of specialized cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Follow cleaning and sanitizing standards; handle general and regulated medical waste properly.

  • Cleaning & Sanitation: Perform seven‑step cleaning, terminal cleaning, carpet extraction, spot cleaning, flood response, and restorative cleaning.

  • Floor Care: Strip, refinish, burnish, and maintain various floor types using specialized equipment.

  • Equipment: Operate buffers, auto-scrubbers, vacuums, carpet extractors, and other EVS equipment.

  • Communication: Coordinate daily needs with nursing staff, supervisors, and unit leadership.

  • Customer Service: Interact respectfully with patients, families, and staff.

  • Support Tasks: Assist with moving equipment/furniture and complete additional duties as assigned.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO BE AN ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES PROJECT WORKER?

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions

  • At least 12 months of healthcare or related housekeeping experience preferred

  • Ability to learn proper cleaning procedures, chemical usage, and equipment operation

  • Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs., lift/move up to 50 lbs., and perform manual tasks

  • Ability to speak and read English for safe equipment operation and communication

Salary Range: $17.92 - 23.49/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the state.
