Full job description

The Manual Machinist role requires the following capabilities:

  • Read, understand and follow work orders, blueprints & engineering drawings.
  • Measure and verify setups and parts by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample work pieces utilizing comparator, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators and other measuring equipment needed.
  • Perform all department operations consistently at standard productivity and quality levels.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, good personal safety record, report unsafe acts, conditions or equipment, keep current with safety policies.
  • Actively wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the department including safety glasses and safety shoes.
  • Select tools & select/create work holding for optimum productivity.
  • Set-up and operate grinders as needed to machine parts to print specifications.
  • Required to process simple parts requiring little or no grinding.
  • Process parts within a specified rate on Manufacturing Work Order.
  • Report time and material in manufacturing systems.
  • Balance the roll to the documented specifications by operating a balancing machine and drill press.

**Your Skills and Expertise **

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Winterthur Technologies requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • Minimum one (1) year of grinding or machinist experience in private, public, government OR military environment OR Technical School. 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Strong conceptual skills.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Functional and technical skills.
