About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The selected candidate may be offered a position within the same job family, at a level that is lower than what was posted. This will be determined based upon the results of the interview process which considers the candidate's skills, work history, experience level, and other relevant qualifications.

Transmission Schedulers are responsible for maintaining the reliability of the Bulk Electric System during planned and unplanned outages. Employees at the entry level of this job family apply acquired education and experience to work situations and exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments. They provide support to management and higher level professionals.

Location: Akron OH or Fairmont WV

Responsibilities include:

  • Processingswitchingrequestssubmitted byregions or project teams

  • Analyzingoutagerequestsforcontingencies, reliability impacts, overloads, or switching limitations

  • Maintainingcompliance withPJMoutagecoordinationrequirements

  • Coordinatingoutageswithinternalandexternalsources

  • Modeling scheduled outages inEMS/RTS toidentifycontingencies and/or overloads.Providing solutions to scheduling concerns

  • Writingproceduresfortakingequipmentoutofservice,restoringserviceandtestenergizing

  • ProvidesupporttoOperators regardingswitchingcontrols

  • Providetechnicalsupporttocontrolcenters

  • Administrationofdatabasesusedtosupportthecontrolcenters

  • Preparingscheduling reportsforoperating companies

  • Supports emergency and storm response activities, including extended-hour operations

An employee hired at the Transmission Scheduler II or Ill level will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Transmission Scheduler II or Ill level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those above
