Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 11:00am - 7:30pm Starting Pay: $20.00/hr

Main Ingredients of the Job! As a US FOODS® Dispatcher you will be responsible for coordinating driver activities to resolve service issues.  The main objective is to verify that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner.

Great Dispatchers are crucial to the US FOODS® team and one of the key members of our organization. Our Dispatchers strive for integrity and reliability, while building trusting relationships with team members.

What you bring to the table

  • In the case of a vehicle accident or driver injury, the dispatcher must notify the manager/supervisor in charge and the safety specialist ASAP.

  • Coordinate driver activities to minimize hours of service violations.

  • Verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.

  • Assign backhauls as needed to be done in the most efficient manner possible.

  • Coordinate trailer and tractor assignments.

  • Communicate to the sales force and operations management if there are any concerns regarding service issues that may arise in the event of a late dispatch, breakdown or other service failure.

  • Reassign routes as needed.

  • Visually inspect each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

  • Coordinate shuttle assignments to minimize downtime and overtime.

  • Complete Attendance Reports.

  • Distribute intercompany mail to sales force.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

What you bring to the table Education/Training:

  • High School Diploma/GED required

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • Must have working knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and driver's logs.

  • Must be organized and detailed; and have legible handwriting.

  • Must be able to manage several things at once.

  • Must have (2) years transportation experience

  • CDL A preferred

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is $20 per hour. ​ ​Benefits for this role may include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
