PURPOSE OF JOB:

To support the Acute Care and Critical care inpatient nursing units on the off shifts by acting as a resource, promoting patient safety and facilitating orientation and educational programming in collaboration with the Unit based Clinical Educators for the Acute Care and the Critical Care nursing units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Demonstrates clinical/technical proficiency and maintains knowledge base of hospital policies, nursing practice guidelines, and utilization of equipment in order to serve as a clinical resource and mentor to the staff.

  2. Collaborates with Unit based Clinical Educators to facilitate orientation and educational programs to assure compliance with hospital standards and the Nurse Practice Act as well as regulatory standards and evidence-based practice

  3. Communicates in a variety of settings with nursing Associates, patients, physicians, family members, and other members of the healthcare team to achieve excellence in patient care.

  4. Promotes patient safety through adherence to protocols, policies, procedures, evidence-based guidelines and the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BSN required, MSN preferred, professional certification in area of specialty preferred

Experience: Three years’ clinical experience

Other Skills:

-Teaching experience

-Computer skills with Microsoft Products
