Recreation Assistant

As the Recreation Therapist you will develop, coordinate and implement programs and services for residents to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each resident’s highest level of cognitive, physical, social and psychological well being.

Pay Rate: Up to $28 an hour (Based on Experience)

Applicant must be a CTRS, LCAT or is eligible for their CTRS certification. Applicant must be energetic, enthusiastic, and creative with good interpersonal and communication skills, good medical documentation skills, with knowledge of the M.D.S and Point Click Care documentation. Applicant must have at least 1-2 years experience in the field. Applicant must be knowledgeable about the MDS and other Therapeutic Recreation documentation. Bilingual is a plus.

Recreation Therapist Job Description:

  • Creative individual with ability to think outside of the box working with residents.

  • Knowledge of MDS, care plans and electronic medical record preferred. Must be computer literate.

  • Perform daily assessments of residents to determine programs according to individual plan of care.

  • Promote activities in a way that piques residents.

  • Assist with on and off unit events.

  • Coordinate on unit parties and work with other Rec. Therapist.

  • Transport residents to off unit and outdoor programs.

  • Attend outdoor trips with residents.

  • Assist with calendar preparation and execution of events and programs

  • Create and ensures monthly program calendar is designed and implemented based on residents abilities, interests hobbies, religions and work/volunteer experience

  • Decorate monthly bulletin boards and create monthly seasonal unit decorations.

  • Identify and place requisitions from supervisor for needed supplies for planned activities.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor (Memory Care Director/Therapeutic Recreation Director

Recreation Therapist Requirements/Qualifications:

Applicant must have a Bachelor’s or Masters Degree from an accredited College, as required for licensure or Certification. TRS,CTRS or LCAT are welcome.

  • Ability to multi task and manage time effectively. Ability to play an instrument a plus.

  • 1-2 years experience

Pay Rate: Up to $28 an hour (Based on Experience)
