Full job description

Responsibilities

Primary Duties, Responsibilities or Activities Required by Job (In Order of Importance)

  • Performs basic carpentry and facilities maintenance

  • Performs daily inspections of interior and exterior of the facility and reports deficiencies and safety issues to the Facility Manager.

  • Assists with remodeling and/or maintenance projects

  • Assists with snow removal at the 4040 Main St. building and parking lots

  • Repairs equipment as needed and regularly test equipment to ensure it is good working order

  • Read blueprints and plans to ensure work is completed according to specified plans

  • Communicate with internal customers as to status of work completion and any changes that are needed to expectations of work completion

  • Familiarity with an electric welder (MIG)

  • Completing remote site visits and work orders

  • Driving CBC company vehicles

  • Pulling data lines for the IT department; terminate, test, etc.

  • Some working knowledge of HVAC and boiler systems

  • Assists in the collections of biohazard waste and deploys empty biohazard bins for departments

  • This position will also be part of an on-call rotation for facilities related issues.

Location Specific Details:

Based at 4040 Main Street, Kansas City, MO

Regular visits to the remote donor centers and testing location

Qualifications

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Related Experience:5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, including HVAC repair, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: HS Diploma

Experience: preferred 5 years’ experience

Required Licenses / Certification

Must have and maintain a valid operator's license (MO Class E license or a Kansas Class C license)

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of snow plowing equipment operation

  • Read and interpret medical, technical, regulatory and quality procedures

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook

  • Computer desktop applications and computer software systems

Skill:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Accurate in transcription of numbers

Abilities:

  • Resolve problems and customer concerns

  • Maintain composure under pressure

  • Work in a team environment or independently

  • Use logic and reasoning to identify and analyze alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems within established policies and procedures

Overview

This position assists the Facility Manager with the day-to-day operations of the Building Operations department. Performs a variety of maintenance projects such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing and basic maintenance and repair work. Performs daily inspections of interior and exterior of the facility and reports deficiencies and safety issues to the Facility Manager.

Supports organizational quality efforts by accepting responsibility for:

  • Reporting any issues related to products, processes, or quality systems

  • Participating in implementation of solutions to issues
