Are you looking for a meaningful way to apply your empathy, patience, compassion, and creativity in your everyday life? Abound Health is seeking a caring, stable, and dedicated individual or couple in Monroe County to join our Life Sharing Program as a Host Family for a young adult preparing to transition out of children’s services. This unique opportunity allows you to open your home and heart to someone who is ready for independence, connection, and a supportive family environment.
We are actively recruiting a Host Family who can offer a quiet, low-key home with no children or additional roommates, where this young adult can continue to grow, thrive, and maintain their independence.
What Is Life Sharing?
Life Sharing is a person-centered residential model where an individual becomes a fully integrated member of a family’s home and community. Unlike traditional caregiving, Life Sharing focuses on long-term relationships, independence, and meaningful daily experiences within a natural home setting.
As a Host Family, you provide not just a place to live — but a sense of belonging, stability, and purpose.
About the Individual (High-Level Overview)

We are supporting a young adult who is:

What You’ll Do as a Life Sharing Host Family

Provide a safe, stable, and welcoming home

Support daily living skills and household routines

Host Family Requirements
To qualify, families must:

Be Pennsylvania residents

Be at least 21 years old

Pass required background checks (FBI, child abuse, criminal)

Complete home inspections and meet safety standards

Provide personal and professional references

Participate in interviews and a matching assessment

Be willing to include the individual in meals, routines, activities, and family life
Training Provided at No Cost
All Host Families receive:

ODP-approved Life Sharing Orientation

Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness

Medication Administration (if applicable)

Individual Rights & Person-Centered Planning
-
Ongoing annual training (e.g., trauma-informed care, dignity & respect)
Additional Details

Contract Position: Host Families are independent contractors, not employees
